The city of Memphis (Tenessee), a rail and port hub, is famous for having been the "cradle of the blues" in the 1920s and 1930s and then the Mecca of rock and roll in the 1950s and 1960s thanks to the local boy, Elvis Presley. This economically active city suffered in the 2000s and in 2007 it became the 4th most dangerous city in the United States. The Stax Music Academy, located in the headquarters of the famous Stax Records, is a free after-school school that trains teenagers in music and citizenship. The documentary Soul Kids takes us on a journey through the workings and music of this institution.
A musical journey through time and a dive into the thinking of a new generation.
