1968 – United States. Martin Luther King is assassinated and racial hatred sets the country on fire. Romain Gary and his wife, actress Jean Seberg, who live in Los Angeles, take in a stray dog, trained exclusively to attack black people: a white dog. The writer, an animal lover, refuses to have him euthanized, at the risk of jeopardizing his relationship with Jean, a civil rights activist and very active within the Black Panthers.
