Maja (Amanda Jansson), a 17-year-old girl, marries against her will the fisherman Janne (Linus Troedsson). Her life on the island of Stormskerry (Stormskär) is full of challenges and adversity: as a fisherman's wife, she must cope with her husband's long absences at sea and take care of her family alone. However, Maja has become a determined and independent woman, who is not afraid to take on the barren archipelago.
